Viva College Fee Schedule 2013
APPLICATION / INITIAL ASSESSMENT FEE: R 1200.00 (if applicable)
This is a non-refundable fee paid by all applicants. A portion of this may be refunded by Medical Aid.
ACCEPTANCE FEE/REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT: R 6 500.00
THIS IS PAYABLE IN ADVANCE UPON ACCEPTANCE BUT REFUNDABLE WHEN THE STUDENT COMPLETES HIS/HER STAY AT THE COLLEGE, LESS ANY AMOUNTS WHICH MAY BE OWING IN RESPECT OF FEES, DISBURSEMENTS, DAMAGES AND OTHERWISE:

This excludes BIDC enrollment, subject, carry overs and Exam fees
This excludes extramural/outpatient therapies
This excludes transport costs
This includes student therapy in-house and excludes family therapy costs which will be charged over and above the basic fees.
Residential Fees per month / Hostel Room R 5000.00
Pocket Money R 500.00
(The residential fee includes accommodation, groceries and cleaning, share water & lights, aftercare facilitators, in-house meals / basic refreshments and laundry)
Please note that the fees for the year 2014/2015 may increase at any time.
December fees will be charged in full with no exceptions unless one month end
written calendar notice has been submitted by October 31st of that year.You will be advised three months in advance.
A 5% discount will be given if 6 months fees are paid in advance; a 10% discount will be offered for a 12 months advance payment. There will be no refunds on monthly fees paid under any circumstances. Should the student leave Viva prior to 6 /12 months fees being paid upfront the advance fees will be paid back on a monthly basis after one month written notice has been proffered.

DAILY PROGRAM
- a) Appropriate Psycho-Social Intervention / Life-Enrichment/Upliftment Life Skills, Tutorship/Cambridge Course and Recreational Programs’ are included in the daily program.
- b) Select Revisionary Educational and Tutorship materials may have to be supplied by Parents / Guardians after they have registered the Student for Distance Education.
- c) A daily lunch with daily beverages / refreshments will also be available to each Day Care Student at no extra cost. Residential students’ fees include all meals in-house, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
- a) All queries with regard to College fees are dealt with by the office of the Director: Finance and Administration.
- b) Whilst the College Advisory Committee hopes to maintain the published scale of fees and charges, unforeseen circumstances and rising costs may from time to time necessitate changes. The Advisory Committee therefore reserves the right to alter all or any of the fees or charges at its discretion subject to one month notice.
- c) Weekly Treats/Extra-mural services are available for Students who are issued with pocket money. With reference to day care students any extra costs may be charged on the monthly invoice.
- d) Pocket Money for Residential Students is essential to cover (1) necessities, i.e. hairdresser, toiletries etc; (2) outings, i.e. soft drinks, ordered meals, entrance fees as well as (3) cigarettes and other luxury consumables. These funds are to be deposited into the Viva College Account so as to ensure structured spending on a monthly basis. Extra expenses may be charged on the monthly invoice should the limit be exceeded for any reason. A detailed pocket money statement will be issued monthly.
- e) Costs of medications, physiotherapy and/or other clinical / medical services will be billed separately where applicable.
- f) Extra lessons required over and above the items specified in the student timetable will be charged as extramural with parental written permission of same.
- g) Should a student miss class for an invalid reason then the cost of the tutor will be deducted from their pocket money statement.
All deposits / fees itemized on the schedule, together with any extras and/or outstanding payments from the previous month are payable strictly in advance at the beginning of each month.
One full calendar month’s notice in writing is required for the withdrawal of a Student. Should a full calendar month’s notice not be given, the Acceptance Deposit will be forfeited.
It is advisable that students be enrolled for a minimum of 12 months to 2 years for the Viva College Upliftment Program to be optimally effective in the longterm. Should a student be discharged by the Viva Multi-Disciplinary team the deposit or remains thereof (dependant on value of damages) will be paid at the end of the next month. There will be no refunds for the payments made for the current month.
The VIVA Program offers three phases:
Phase I – Upliftment/Normalisation
Phase II – Private Tutorship/ Life Skills Specialisation
Phase III – Pre-Employment / Mentor Assistance to set up a business or gain employment. Phases II and III are optional though highly recommended to assist to ease the student back into society in a structured manner. Please note that the full co-operation of parents/guardians is required by the Viva Team in order to ensure the efficacy of the Viva Program. Viva College is the only facility in South Africa that caters for teenagers under 18.

Personal Accident/Personal Effects Insurance:
If possible, this should be organized by Parents / Guardians, as this aims to provide cover during Students’ term at VIVA Youth College as well as for College Environmental Activities.
VIVA Probation Period for a Student may up to 3 months trial period.
Should a student not fit in with the Viva Structure during and/or over 3 months or should Parents/Guardians not demonstrate any form of support to assist in this regard the student may be discharged.
VIVA COLLEGE CLOSES FOR ONE MONTH A YEAR FROM MID DECEMBER TO MID JANUARY. PARENTS/GUARDIANS TO ORGANISE A SAFE AND STRUCTURED MONTH FOR THEIR CHILDREN WITH VIVA ASSISTANCE OFFERED.
